Cors Essentials

Cors Essentials

Key Features

A step-by-step guide but at a high level/fast pace. Not all steps are covered as a basic knowledge is assumed

Provides a basic overview of the concepts but the focus is on providing the practical skills required to develop applications

Focuses on providing practical examples

Book Description

This book explains how to use CORS, including specific implementations for platforms such as Drupal, WordPress, IIS Server, ASP.NET, JBoss, Windows Azure, and Salesforce, as well as how to use CORS in the Cloud on Amazon AWS, YouTube, Mulesoft, and others. It examines limitations, security risks, and alternatives to CORS. It explores the W3C Specification and major developer documentation sources about CORS. It attempts to predict what kinds of extension to the CORS specification, or completely new techniques, will come in the future to address the limitations of CORS

Web developers will learn how to share code and assets across domains with CORS. They will learn a variety of techniques that are rather similar in their method and syntax. The book is organized by similar types of framework and application, so it can be used as a reference. Developers will learn about special cases, such as when a proxy is necessary. And they will learn about some alternative techniques that achieve similar goals, and when they may be preferable to using CORS

What you will learn

Why you need CORS: Bending the Same Origin Policy and basic CORS implementation, headers and XMLHttpRequest

Creating proxies for CORS: Sometimes the header is not enough

Security: vulnerabilities and how to secure your CORS application

CORS implementations in Content Management systems

Learn about CORS in Windows applications

Take CORS on the Cloud

Apply CORS in Node.js

Hands-on With Html Apis_ Harness The Power Of Html Apis - Peter Leow

Hands-on With Html Apis_ Harness The Power Of Html Apis - Peter Leow

The advent of HTML Living Standard, previously known as HTML5, has revolutionized the traditional web scene. Over the years, HTML specification has added a bag full of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) that cover a wide spectrum of functionality and features that power the future web browsers and mobile devices. This empowerment has brought about new possibilities and opportunities for the next generation of web applications that are more autonomous and can work offline, on multi-platforms, free of third party plug-ins and less reliant on server-side scripting. In the foreseeable future, it is not unimaginable that the web browser will replace our traditional metaphor of desktops on our computers, that of a web-based desktop.

In this book, you will dip into the HTML APIs grab bag and draw out several of them for discussion and exploration peppered with plenty of hands-on exercises, these include:

•Geolocation for finding and navigating your way on Earth.

•Drag and Drop for dragging and dropping UI elements on HTML page.

•Server-Sent Events for enabling one-way streaming of data from servers.

•Web Sockets for establishing full-duplex bi-directional communication between clients and servers.

•Web Workers for spawning JavaScript on background threads.

•Web Storage for inserting, updating, retrieving, and deletion of data on browsers.

Network Programming With Go: Essential Skills For Using And Securing Networks

Dive into key topics in network architecture and Go, such as data serialization, application level protocols, character sets and encodings. This book covers network architecture and gives an overview of the Go language as a primer, covering the latest Go release.

Beyond the fundamentals, Network Programming with Go covers key networking and security issues such as HTTP and HTTPS, templates, remote procedure call (RPC), web sockets including HTML5 web sockets, and more.

Additionally, author Jan Newmarch guides you in building and connecting to a complete web server based on Go. This book can serve as both as an essential learning guide and reference on Go networking.

What You Will Learn

Master network programming with Go

Carry out data serialization

Use application-level protocols

Manage character sets and encodings

Deal with HTTP(S)

Build a complete Go-based web server

Work with RPC, web sockets, and more

Who This Book Is For

Experienced Go programmers and other programmers with some experience with the Go language.

Practical Gis

Practical Gis

Key Features

This easy-to-follow guide allows you to manage and analyze geographic data with ease using open source tools

Publish your geographical data online

Learn the basics of geoinformatics in a practical way by solving problems

Book Description

The most commonly used GIS tools automate tasks that were historically done manually—compiling new maps by overlaying one on top of the other or physically cutting maps into pieces representing specific study areas, changing their projection, and getting meaningful results from the various layers by applying mathematical functions and operations. This book is an easy-to-follow guide to use the most matured open source GIS tools for these tasks.

We'll start by setting up the environment for the tools we use in the book. Then you will learn how to work with QGIS in order to generate useful spatial data. You will get to know the basics of queries, data management, and geoprocessing.

After that, you will start to practice your knowledge on real-world examples. We will solve various types of geospatial analyses with various methods. We will start with basic GIS problems by imitating the work of an enthusiastic real estate agent, and continue with more advanced, but typical tasks by solving a decision problem.

Finally, you will find out how to publish your data (and results) on the web. We will publish our data with QGIS Server and GeoServer, and create a basic web map with the API of the lightweight Leaflet web mapping library.

What you will learn

Collect GIS data for your needs

Store the data in a PostGIS database

Exploit the data using the power of the GIS queries

Analyze the data with basic and more advanced GIS tools

Publish your data and share it with others

Build a web map with your published data

About the Author

Gabor Farkas is a PhD student in the University of Pecs's Institute of Geography. He holds a master's degree in geography, although he moved from traditional geography to pure geoinformatics in his early studies. He often studies geoinformatical solutions in his free time, keeps up with the latest trends, and is an open source enthusiast. He loves to work with GRASS GIS, PostGIS, and QGIS, but his all time favorite is Web GIS, which mostly covers his main research interest.

Test-driven Development With Python, 2nd Edition [early Release]

Test-driven Development With Python, 2nd Edition [early Release]

By taking you through the development of a real web application from beginning to end, the updated second edition of this hands-on guide demonstrates the practical advantages of test-driven development (TDD) with Python. You’ll learn how to write and run tests before building each part of your app, and then develop the minimum amount of code required to pass those tests. The result? Clean code that works.

Author Harry J.W. Percival uses a concrete example—the development of a web site, from scratch—to teach TDD methodology and how it applies to web programming, from the basics of database integration and Javascript to more advanced topics such as mocking, Ajax, and REST APIs. It's ideal for relative newcomers and self-taught web developers looking to take their skills to the next level with a more structured approach.
